Make Your Rechargeable Batteries Last Longer

Nothing is more obnoxious than your rechargeable devices constantly going dead. Maybe it's your flashlight, your laptop, or your cell phone. Whenever you are using them the battery seems to go dead at the worst possible time. Even worse than this is when the batteries seem to stop holding a charge all together. Luckily, there is a very simple way to extend the battery life of rechargeable batteries.

Some types of rechargeable batteries have a kind of 'memory' that builds up when you do not completely discharge a battery before you begin to recharge it. This causes internal buildup of heat. This heat will cause the battery stop taking a full charge. After this kind of abuse long enough, the battery will cease to keep a charge at all. Because we know that internal heat is what causes this, there is a simple trick you can try. Just put your rechargeable batteries in the freezer overnight. This will greatly increase their lifespan and the amount of power they are able to hold. If a large trip of project is coming up, depending on what exactly the batteries are used in, you can put the batteries in the freezer ahead of time.

Using this trick you can resurrect batteries on occasion. If a battery is already completely dead and no longer holding a charge simply put it in the freezer for an extended period of time. After a week or longer, and the battery is frozen solid, take it out and allow it to begin recharging. The battery should begin to function properly again.
